Building a strong school culture and community enhances student achievement, fosters relationship building, provides students with soft skills to work with others, supports the goals of the learning community to reach their highest potential.

A word about our founder Dr. Teresa Baker

My experience as School Leader (Principal) for underserved schools impressed upon me the importance of providing students with opportunities to explore, discover, learn, and flourish by flexing their intellectual muscles.

To stimulate student growth emotionally, socially, and academically an innovative and researched based educational practices should capture student interest and stimulate imaginations. Thus, an Aviation and Aerospace school-wide theme was implemented.

This helped students to want to learn and explore with an invested level of excitement. With strong community support from an Indiana Pacers Grant. The Indiana Pacers Mission Control room was created. The IPS school district’s facility maintenance team, provided additional support by staging a classroom to look like an aeronotical mission control room.

The room featured a flight simulator, flight tracker, computers, and a literature stage. An actual Cessna airplane was suspended from the ceiling of Thomas G. Gregg, Elementary School cafetorium. Vincennes University provided airplane rides for the sixth-grade class. Each grade level had a focused area of study. The Tuskegee Airman Indianapolis Chapter provided professional development for some staff members.
With ample learning opportunities and community support students were able to reverse the culture and climate of the school and improve the school rating by a letter grade within a year.
